At New Horizons High School (NHHS), we are more than just an educational institution; we are a vibrant learning community committed to helping every student reach their destination: graduation. Established as Pasco Alternative High School in the early 1970s, our school has a rich history of transformation and renewal, mirroring the resilience and determination of our students.

A Phoenix Rising: Our History

From humble beginnings in rented facilities to the present day, NHHS has continuously evolved to meet the needs of our students. After a fire destroyed our original campus in 1989, we emerged stronger, with a new name and location. Over the years, we have grown and adapted, embracing change and innovation to provide the best possible education for our students.

In August 2017, thanks to a longstanding partnership between Pasco School District and Columbia Basin College (CBC), we moved to our current location on the east end of the CBC campus. This move allowed us to transform the former CH2M Hill Education Center into our new home—a spacious and welcoming environment spanning over 32,000 square feet. Our modern facilities include classrooms, a cafeteria, science lab, daycare center, computer lab, art room, and even a food pantry.

A School with a Purpose

NHHS is not just a school; it's a place of hope and a promise for the future. Our dedicated educators and staff form strong relationships with students, parents, and the community to ensure that each student's educational journey leads to graduation.

One of our unique strengths is our unwavering support for teen parents. We provide on-site childcare and even have a baby bus, making it easier for young parents to continue their education while caring for their little ones. Our teen parent program serves both moms and dads, fostering a supportive community for the entire family.

Innovation and Excellence

Designated as a Washington State Innovative School in 2011, NHHS has always been at the forefront of educational innovation. While our roots may be unconventional, today we hold our students to the same rigorous academic standards as any other high school. In 2008, we achieved accreditation, and our students now receive diplomas proudly embossed with our school mascot and name.

The name "New Horizons High School" was chosen by our students to symbolize a forward-looking view. Many of our students have faced challenges, but they are rising from the ashes, renewing their commitment to completing their education and shaping their own bright futures.
